Dog fouling in public places is illegal in the UK. Dog owners must clean up after their pets, or risk a fine of up to £1,000, or prosecution, under Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) set by local councils. Dog faeces can transmit the parasite Toxocara canis, which can cause health problems in humans, especially children, such as blindness and liver damage. You can report offenders to your local authority or council.

Peterstow Parish Council will have to look at taking further steps such as banning dogs completely from the common if this continues.
